Bad Cop Illustration Process
I was commissioned to create a magazine illustration for a short story called 'Bad Cop'. Here's the process I went through from sketches to final scratchboard.

I was commissioned by art director Mary Workman at Whittle Communication's 'Special Report' magazine to illustrate a fiction piece called 'Bad Cop'.
These four sketches were submitted to the art director.
I love film noir movies. This illustration needed to have the same sinister atmosphere.
With the sketch below approved, I transferred it to a blank, black EssDee scratchboard and began cutting away white lines, as if I were painting with light.
